Sugbuanong Balak

 Sinugdan ug Kataposan
  by:Francisco Candia

Nakita mong dunay nagsugod
Dunay sinugdanan
Nakita mong dunay natapos
Dunay kataposan
Apan ang kamatuoran
Ang kataposan sinugadn
Ang sinugadn kataposan
Kon ang duha mao ang usa
Unsay duna?

Nakita mong dunay nagsugod
Apan walay nasugdan
Nakita mong dunay natapos
Apan walay kataposan
Apan ang kamatuoran
Kon dunay sinugdan
Ug dunay kataposan
Ang duha nga maoy usa
Nia lang sa kalibotan

Ang tanan manggialamon
Nagtuon sa kahingpitan
Apan ang ilang sangkoan
Mao ray ilang aboton
Ug ang tinuod
Wala gani makasugod
Ug wala pay sinugdan
Unsa gani ang sukod
Mao ray ilang tugkaran.

Beginning and End
Translated by Simeon Dumdum Jr.

You have seen someone begin
There is a beginning
You have seen something end
There is an end
But the truth is
The end is the beginning
The beginning end
If the two are one
 What's there?

You have seen someone begin
But nothing has been started
You have seen something ended
But there is no end
But the truth is
If there is a beginning
And there is an end
The two which are one
Are in this word only

All learned men
Have studied perfection
But what they will end up with
Is all they can reach
And the truth is
No one has started
Nothing has been started
whatever their depth
Is all they can fathom.

Sa Humot Mong Buhok
  ni: Eugenio A. Viacrucis

Nangalimyon, ahay!
Samoyaw ug kadlum;
Sa buhok mong itum,
Labong pinadunghay,

Lab-as nga kahumot -
Kalalim sa baho!
Di ko gyud igsaho
Sa langyawng pahumot.

Lubosa paghagkum,
Sa puting tangkugo;
Ayaw  lag itago,
Panit mong matahum.

Pangkoa sa hinay,
Ampinging kaamyon;
Bayag pagalamyon
Sa hangin haruhay!

Yuna pag isalum -
Ipagba sa adlaw,
Aron mangalisngaw:
Samoyaw ua kadlum.

Kini lay palihog -
Diyut da god lamang -
Una ka moundang,
Tagbawang kaibog.

Kon daw ikatugot -
Kon di mo katak-an -
Sagdi akong hagkan
Ang buhok mong humot!

On Your Fragrant Hair
Translated by: Vicente Bandillo

It exudes, ahay!
Samoyaw and kadlum;
Your black hair
Flowing profusely down,

Fresh fragrance -
How sweet the smell!
I won't exchange it
For imported perfume.

Claspit with the hand
By the white nape;
Don't hide
Your lovely skin.

Bun it slowly,
Mind the essence;
It might be swallowed
By the careless wind!

Before you dip it -
Dry it in the sun,
So it exhales:
Samoyaw and kadlum.

I ask this only -
Just a trifle -
Before you finish
Sate my desire.

If you permit me -
If you don't begrudge it -
Let me kiss
Your fragrant hair.

Didto Diin wala nay Ugma

Nga gibulhot sa ginhawaan sa kangitngit;
Nahipadpad kining kalag sa suok maalingning,
Nag-usara sa pakigharung sa kasakit.

Kining lawak nga langit atop ug pulos bintana
Nag-anago ang lugsanayng kahayag nga way Adlaw.
Way bulan. Way bituon.
Nangitkit sa mga kubal sa kanhi kong panlimbasog;
Ila na ako karon - ug unsa pay ako ning dapit
Nga wala nay ugma ug paglaom?

Where There is No Tomorrow
Translated by: Vicente Bandillo

As yet I do not open these eyes,
For morning has changed. Gone is the cockrow
That would tease my senses; and where is the sunbeam
That would pinch to waken this early languor?
Salty and chilly is the gust of wind
Exhaled by the maw of darkness;
My soul is blown to a humid corner
To face sorrow all alone.

Into this room, all window, with the sky for roof,
Faintly filters light from no Sun.
No moon. No stars.
And the north wind contends with the south wind.
I hear but do not see
The stirrings of the remnants of the past
Singing a song of sad remembering
Of lost beauty that will not come again!
I will ignore the strange beings at my feet
Chewing up the calluses of my former struggles;
I am theirs, now - and what else is there for me
Here where hope has no tomorrow?
